The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), is a United Kingdom-based global professional body working for the purchasing and supply professions. With the objective of “leading excellence in procurement and supply”, it aims to promote good practice and provides services for the benefit of a procurement community. CIPS aims to promote and develop high standards of professional skill, ability, and integrity among all those engaged in purchasing and supply chain management.

Entry requirements for Level 4:
·         Minimum Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any government authorized university.
·         A minimum of at least two A-levels (or international equivalent) or a CIPS Level 3 Advanced Certificate Qualification is required.
·         Minimum 2 years relevant work experience, in a business environment.

Level 4 Diploma in Procurement & Supply

Entry requirements

Who is this level suitable for? 
This qualification is the essential toolkit for anyone planning a career in procurement and supply.
​Developed and written using the Procurement and Supply cycle** as its focus, it is at the same level as the first year of an undergraduate degree course. It’s suitable for those in operational roles or those managing or supervising the procurement and supply function who want to develop their career and work towards MCIPS Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional.

Course Content:
​You will learn about making procurement and supply happen within an organisation, and you will be equipped with an essential range of knowledge and tools that you can apply immediately in your workplace. Learn how to apply a practical, theoretical and technical knowledge, gain a clear understanding of procurement and supply and develop the ability to address complex, nonroutine problems. On completion, you will be able to analyse, interpret and evaluate relevant information and ideas and have an informed awareness of differing perspectives and approaches within the profession. You will also be able to review the effectiveness and appropriateness of methods, actions and results.

Objective Response exam format (OR)

​These questions allow you to select a response from a list of possible answers. You will find these types of exams across all our qualifications levels and they are marked by computer and then moderated by CIPS examiners.
Pass mark: 70%  = 1.5 hours exam duration (72 questions)

Constructed Response (CR)

​These questions require you to create or ‘construct’ a response to the question such as an essay or case study. You will find this type of exam in our diploma level qualifications and they will be marked by subject expert examiners.
Pass mark: 50% = 3 hours exam duration

Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement & Supply

Entry requirements:
You will need to have achieved the CIPS Diploma in procurement and supply or the CIPS Foundation diploma in purchasing and supply

Who is this level suitable for? 
Provides senior buyers, contract and supply chain managers with the expertise to improve organisational procurement and to fulfil organisational objectives. It gives you the knowledge base to reduce cost, improve quality and timescales, manage the supply chain and deal with legal issues.

Course Content:
Building on the practical knowledge and understanding gained at CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply you will develop a higher level of practical, theoretical and technical knowledge and understanding of procurement and supply. Your learning will focus on how to deal with key aspects of risk in supply chains and mitigation of those risks; processing and evaluating contracts and the impact of legal implications when contracts are breached.

On completion of this qualification you can expect to improve your overall organisational procurement and supply performance to fulfil your organisational objectives.

Level 6 Professional Diploma in Procurement & Supply

Entry requirements:
You will need to have achieved the CIPS Advanced diploma in procurement and supply or the CIPS Advanced diploma in purchasing and supply.

Who is this level suitable for? 
For those who are successful in completing the CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply; this represents the final level of CIPS qualifications for those working towards MCIPS Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional.

Course Content:
Building on the knowledge and skills learned at the CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply, you will be able to demonstrate strategic knowledge and leadership skills and find solutions to complex problems. It is designed to develop transferable workplace skills such as excellent communication and the ability to work in and lead a team.

Employers have identified that the ability to think strategically and lead and influence policy and thinking are essential for progression. You will gain an understanding of different perspectives and theories and will be able to critically analyse, interpret and evaluate complex information, concepts and ideas.

Question Types: 
1. Objective Response (OR) 
These questions allow you to select a response from a list of possible answers. You will find these types of exams across all our qualifications levels and they are marked by computer and then moderated by CIPS examiners. All Learning Outcomes  within a module will have the same amount of coverage. You must answer all questions within an exam, you can expect no optional questions. All exams are marked out of 100%.

Pass mark: 70%  = 1.5 hours exam duration (expect L2 & L3)

2. Constructed Response (CR)
These questions require you to create or ‘construct’ a response to the question such as an essay or case study. You will find this type of exam in our diploma level qualifications and they will be marked by subject expert examiners. All Learning Outcomes  within a module will have the same amount of coverage. You must answer all questions within an exam, you can expect no optional questions. All exams are marked out of 100%. ​
Pass mark: 50% = 3 hours exam duration (except L6M4)

Examination Enrolment:
There is no need to book your exams! The CPD Team will book your exams on your behalf , however, it is vital to communicate any changes or amendments to your study plan with us. This will ensure that there are no additional chargers or missed cancellations deadlines.

Candidate Responsibility:
To check their CIPS account to ensure that correct exam/s have been booked, this must be done at least one week prior to the deadline for enrolment. Failure to do so may result in delegates not being able to sit their exam.

Exam Cancellation Deadline:
